The Strategic Communities (SC) of AFIL are specialized working groups formed by members who share a common interest and dedication to strategic matters in Lombardy's manufacturing sector. These groups thrive on the participants' diverse expertise and interests.
Comprising key regional stakeholders, the SCs focus on recognizing challenges, requirements, and prospects in advanced manufacturing. Their primary objectives are to foster collaborations, establish synergies, and devise projects and solutions that promote industrial ecosystem growth and enhance overall competitiveness.

What about Additive Manufacturing?
Additive Manufacturing is a cutting-edge technology, offering exceptional versatility in both the shapes it can produce and the flexibility in production sequences. This innovation enables seamless integration of components, unlocking the potential for new business models that offer personalized, high-value products and services.
The Strategic Community “Additive Manufacturing” seeks to unite Lombardy's stakeholders in a chain-based approach, fostering the conception and development of solutions and production models leveraging regional excellence. The community aims to explore networking and funding opportunities at regional, national, and European levels.
Under this initiative, the Additive Manufacturing Chain was established, with the following objectives:
- Investment in training and dedicated resources.
- Creation of an extensive catalog of case studies across various application areas.
- Sector-specific investments in corporate projects.
- Dissemination activities to promote awareness and knowledge sharing.
Notably, on 3rd February 2023, the supply chain project "Ecosystem for Development and Industrialization of Additive Manufacturing Technologies in Lombardy (amalo)" was officially approved.
