The Strategic Communities (SC) of AFIL are specialized working groups formed by members who share a common interest and dedication to strategic matters in Lombardy's manufacturing sector. These groups thrive on the participants' diverse expertise and interests.
Comprising key regional stakeholders, the SCs focus on recognizing challenges, requirements, and prospects in advanced manufacturing. Their primary objectives are to foster collaborations, establish synergies, and devise projects and solutions that promote industrial ecosystem growth and enhance overall competitiveness.

Smart Components?
Lombardy stands out as a leading European region for component production across various industrial sectors, including automotive. However, the ongoing technological shift towards digitalization and Industry 4.0 technologies poses a potential risk to the componentry segment, especially when low-value supplied components are replaced by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) products. To adapt, Lombard components need to embrace intelligence through sensorization, enabling advanced functionalities and offering high-value services throughout the product's entire lifecycle.
In light of this, the Strategic Community “Smart Components” iaims to unite component manufacturers, technology suppliers, and regional OEMs to innovate and rapidly advance the field of intelligent components in Lombardy. This effort capitalizes on the region's industrial expertise and its dedication to providing customized products and services with substantial added value.
Within the Strategic Community, the Intelligent Components Supply Chain has emerged, focusing on the following key areas:
